ProdukcjaBydgoszcz has been the industrial centre of the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship and this part of Poland over the years. The local economy is based on such industries as: electro machinery, transport, tool, plastics processing, arms, furniture and grocery. The industry companies constitute ca. 10% of all economic operators present in the City, at the same time employing 50% of all the workforce in Bydgoszcz.


There are many local businesses operating in the City, which accomplished considerable success on the European and worldwide markets, and which belong to a group of leaders in their sectors. These include such companies as: PESA Bydgoszcz S.A., ABRAMCZYK, IMMOBILE Group (formerly MAKRUM S.A.), BELMA S.A., Projprzem S.A.


Bydgoszcz and its suburbs is a developing industry centre of tool, plastics processing and the chemical sector with 850 companies operating in the area. The European leaders in these sectors are Shapers Polska Sp. z o.o., OKT Polska Sp. z o.o., together with local entrepreneurs producing various goods for global leaders, such as Hanplast, which is the major supplier for IKEA in Europe. Furthermore, the Bydgoszcz branch of MAKRUM cooperates with Rolce – Royce and manufactures on-board equipment and steering systems for vessels.

PesaPESA, which also operates in Bydgoszcz, is the leader in transport industry in Central Europe. It delivers rail vehicles to European and worldwide markets. It competes against other players in the trade with considerable success. PESA’s trains and trams run on the rails of Germany, Italy, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Ukraine and Russia. At the same time, PESA is the largest employer in Bydgoszcz and at the end of the half of 2016 it employed ca. 3,500 people.


The telecommunication, electronics and electric engineering sectors are strong branches of the Bydgoszcz industry. Today, such companies as Nokia or Tyco Electronics, which derived from former “TELFA” or “Eltra”, are operating in Bydgoszcz. Alcatel-Lucent is also a part of a global TE Connectivity group and specialises in the production of connectors and cable systems for such brands as  SAMSUNG, GRUNDFOS or ERICSSON.

IMS Sp. Z o.o. Group, which comprises such top brands as  Bydgoskie Fabryki Mebli (Bydgoszcz Furniture Factory), Helvetia Furniture or IMS Sofa, is occupying an increasingly stronger position at the European furniture market. Bydgoskie Fabryki Mebli is one of the first and the largest furniture factories in Poland. The furniture industry in Bydgoszcz has long traditions and a strong potential for development.


WZLAlso, Bydgoszcz representatives of the arms industry belong to the leaders of local economy. Wojskowe Zakłady Lotnicze Nr2 (a military aviation facility),  BELMA or TEL-DAT, create numerous innovative solutions used by the national, European and global arms industries. The prestige of local entrepreneurs is confirmed by the fact that WZL which was chosen within the offset to provide maintenance services for Polish F-16 aircrafts, and that the TEL-DAT company signed a contract with American Raytheon company to deliver components for the PATRIOT rockets.


The food sector also plays an important role in the local industry. “Jutrzenka” confectionery has been operating in Bydgoszcz for many years and today it is a part of “Colian Sp. z o.o.” group. One of the most renowned representatives of the confectionery industry in the country and abroad is SOWA Confectionery with cafés that can also be found in Berlin or in London.


Bydgoszcz industry stands a strong part of the local economy, which is very modern and cultivates longstanding traditions. The entrepreneurs from Bydgoszcz produce a multitude of goods for foreign clients, due to which they constitute 1/4 of the exporters in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
